If you’ve been trying to get hold of our organic Fairtrade olive oil recently, online or in your local shop, you may have noticed it’s currently unavailable and, in most cases, replaced with bottles or cans that don’t carry either certification.
This is due to the organic certifying body withdrawing from Palestine earlier on in the year, citing security concerns, without a proper handover. A new certifier is now thankfully in place, but the transition has required a lengthy induction process.
To keep trade flowing and to support the small-scale producers who rely on the harvest for their livelihoods, we’re offering the same high-quality extra virgin Palestinian olive oil in 250ml, 500ml, 750ml and 5L formats, just temporarily without the organic and Fairtrade marks.
Despite maintaining their high standards, our suppliers have faced a loss of certified sales at an already challenging time. However, this switch has enabled us to keep shelves stocked with exceptional oil, and just as importantly, to keep trade flowing back to the farmers and processors who’ve worked so hard to bring it to life.
We expect certified stock to return in the New Year. In the meantime, we’re incredibly grateful for your patience and extraordinary support. Our olive oil imports have soared even with the disruption – a real testament to the brilliant customers we’re lucky to have.
We’ll keep you updated as things progress. In the meantime, enjoy the wonderful olive oil of Palestine with a generous drizzle on all your summer dishes ☀️
