The situation in the West Bank continues to escalate, with military operations intensifying in Jenin and Tulkarem and several parts of the Jordan Valley, forcing thousands to flee their homes. In true Palestinian spirit, families and community centres in nearby villages have opened their doors – sharing food, warmth, and whatever space they have – with those displaced. Neighbours have become caretakers, and entire villages have come together to ensure no one is left without shelter or support.
Some of our suppliers have told us that their employees have faced severe restrictions, delaying even the most basic operations. A more recent example was staff at the Palestine Fair Trade Association being unable to access their offices, which are located near the Jenin refugee camp – an area that has been at the epicentre of the ongoing violence by the Israeli military in recent months.
Still, despite these difficulties, as we’ve seen time and again, Palestinian spirit is unbreakable. Producers, suppliers and workers are determined to do everything possible to ensure that the fruits of their labour reach our shores. Thanks to their incredible efforts, shipments from Jenin, Nablus, and Jericho have been getting through! Over the last three months alone, we have received 11 containers of Palestinian products, ranging from Medjoul dates and olive oil to grains, almonds and soap.
We typically hold a higher-than-normal volume of stock to mitigate shortages – especially in times like these. However, a combination of factors, including delays in production, certification, transport, and shipping, combined with high customer demand, has at times depleted our stock buffers.
We’re expecting a few more shipments over the next couple of months which should see us well stocked across all product lines for the rest of the year. Thank you for bearing with us – we look forward to supplying you with the full range very soon!
