May is here – and across the West Bank the land is blooming with poppies and wild za’atar, bringing the promise of good harvests ahead.
It is also the month when the anniversary of the Nakba in 1948 comes around again – an ongoing catastrophe that continues to deepen and reshape the lives of Palestinian communities.
Last week we heard from a colleague that close to 6,000 olive trees have been destroyed in recent months – uprooted to make way for military bases and for bypass roads between settlements.
In response, farmers across the West Bank are replanting – and demand for saplings through the Trees for Life programme is continuing to grow.
Sponsoring a tree is a small, concrete act of solidarity – and a way of joining farmers in keeping the land alive.
